Last few days of exhibition

Be sure to visit the east Cork camera Group Exhibition in Cork Airport as the last few days of the show is on. East Cork Camera Group decided to photograph every cruise liner visit to Cork Harbour in 2015 and, with over fifty visits scheduled, it was clear at the outset that it would be a commitment to get them all.

Regal Princess kicked the season off in style on 25th April, arriving with the sunrise on a beautiful Saturday morning and from then on they came thick and fast, with multiple arrivals sometimes on the same day. The months rolled by and, when Marco Polo recorded the fifty seventh and final visit of the year on 21st December, the club had maintained a 100% record and in the process, exhausted vantage points all around the harbour from Roche’s Point to Myrtleville with Cobh town, of course, being a favourite haunt. Particular highlights were the many beautiful early mornings and balmy summer evenings spent around and on the harbour, the great people we met along the way and being invited on board Royal Princess and MSC Splendida to shoot their palatial interiors.

After every visit, a gallery of images was posted to this website where there are now over 1,000 images from the project in 57 galleries. Realising that this was a unique collection, thoughts of an exhibition soon began to circulate. The Cobh Maritime Building became available for an exhibition for the month of July 2016 and forty-five images were selected, including seven from the Lusitania Centenary Commemoration events held during May of that year. The exhibition, which was supported by many sponsors, was open to the public during the month of July, 2016 and attracted over 6,000 visitors. The exhibition in Cork Airport has seen many visits and will end at the end of July.
