POTY / NPOTY 2020 Jan 25th – Entry closing 24/11/19

The POTY and NPOTY closing date for 2020 is fast approaching and this year we will have some major changes to the running of the competition. Closing date for entry is 24/11/19. The plan this year is to run both competitions on the same day  Sat Jan 25 with the POTY in the morning and NPOTY in the afternoon. To facilitate this change prints for entry will be collected in advance of the competition and we are currently organising several locations so that we can save members travelling huge distances in order to enter. Judges for the SACC competition are Dominic Reddin, Des Clinton and Michelle La Grue.

Collection points will be listed early in January to collect prints and are to include Killarney, Blarney, Limerick, Kilkenny & Dungarvan with more to come. It’s never been easier to enter set up your entry on the IPF site links below and we will announce dates for easy collection points around the region.

Nature Photographer of the Year SACC
Saturday Jan 13th: To a delighted and packed Cabragh Wetlands Trust Building the winner of the 2017-2018 Nature Photographer of the year was announced. Pakie O Donoghue from the Blackwater Photographic Society picked up the award. Pakie was shocked at receiving the award but it was truly deserved. Pakie also picked up a Gold Medal for the Open Print Catagory. There was about 100 people in attendance and special thanks go to the Wetland Trust and to Thurles Camera Club for helping make it a fantastic event. Blarney Photography Club did the SACC proud running an excellent event and once again congratulations to all the winners and Pakie. Seamus Mulcahy, Eddie Kelly and Kevin Day won several awards.

The previous Month on December 3rd in the Horse and Jocky Hotel The Photographer of the Year was played out with a terrific attendance and a huge entry 100’s of images were put through their paces by the judges and the final winner Seamus Costello took the POTY  Seamus Scallane trophy. Seamus had won 2 golds and a bronze on the day and was a worthy winner. Other notable winners in the Advanced Catagories were Bill Power and Morgan O’Niell both of whom won several Medals and Awards.

SACC Qualifying Round of the IPF Photographer of the Year Competition 2018

The SACC Qualifying Round of the IPF Photographer of the Year Competition 2018

 will be held on Sunday, December 3rd in the Horse & Jockey Hotel, Co Tipperary. This competition is open to all individual members of SACC affiliated clubs and is the Southern Regional round of the IPF POTY Competition 2018. Check out the entry details and themes in the related post on  the IPF websites. 

Note: Closing date for entries:  Nov 30th 2017.   Please ensure that your print entries have the correct SACC label attached and filled out. Thank you. The label is available for download from the IPF website. The label download link may also be accessed from SACC POTY 2018 Label

Event Schedule:

9.00am-10.00am Hand in of print entries.
Prints for SACC POTY must have been pre-registered via online IPF system ( Closing date for entry Nov 30th). Prints that have not been pre-registered will not be accepted.
10.00 – close Judging starts after check-in and will continue with in the following sequence:

  • Colour Prints (open & themed)
  • Monochrome prints (open & themed)
  • Projected Images (open & themed).
  • Award Ceremony

( There will be a lunch break at approximately 1:00pm.)

Images that do not qualify for national finals can be collected AFTER awards ceremony.
Qualifying prints will be retained and forwarded to IPF for National Finals.
